Artist Statement

I am fortunate enough to have become a world traveler, and I draw most of my creative inspiration from my travels.  I thrive on exploring new places and opening my eyes to different perspectives.  Countries are vast, fluid, and complex.  They cannot be captured in a photograph or explained in a book.  Painting helps me capture my experiences, perceptions, reactions, and emotions as a foreigner in a foreign land.  My subject matter is often the symbols of culture and religion and the rituals of everyday life.  Inherent in my work is an appreciation for our cultural diversity.
